COMPASSIONATE JUSTICE FUND: REFERRAL APPLICATION

Thank you for your interest in the Compassionate Justice Fund. 

Please make sure to read the eligibility and exclusion criteria below to ensure your client is eligible for the Compassionate Justice Fund.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • 16 years or older
  • Live in Ontario, Canada
  • Prior history of a traumatic brain injury.
    • The injury does not have to be recent, and a formal diagnosis is not required for consideration. 
    • All causes of traumatic brain injury are eligible; however, you must specify the cause in the application form. 
  • Funding will only be provided if there is evidence suggesting that a person is 'marginalized' or 'vulnerable,' including but not limited to persons who have:
    • Experience of violence or abuse
    • Unstable housing or homelessness
    • Intersection with the criminal justice system
    • Mental health challenges, in addition to one of the above criteria
Exclusion Criteria:
  • Current or past access to alternative funding related to their brain injury (e.g., insurance, public health care, settlements, or crowdfunding)
  • Current or past access to rehabilitation and/or support services related to their brain injury (e.g., publicly funded brain injury programs, hospital-based outpatient rehabilitation services, community-based programs).
  • Reasonable financial stability
